Membership in the Michigan Seniors requires an applicant to be at least fifty years of age and a member of a private golf club, maintain a current USGA-GHIN  index, and be sponsored by a current Michigan Seniors member in good standing.

Members of private clubs outside of Michigan and past members of the Michigan Seniors are also eligible providing they meet all other membership requirements. Past members of the M.S.G.A. may rejoin by submitting an updated application and paying only the current year’s dues.

A one-time initiation fee of $200 and annual dues of $125 will be billed upon acceptance.

Frequently-Asked Questions

A: Each event includes three flights; a gross flight for the lower handicappers played from the blue tees (usually around 6500 yards); a middle-handicap flight played from the white tees (6200 yards); and a "play-it-forward" flight played from under 6000-yards. The best part is that you pick the flight and the tees you want to play from. It's all about enjoying the day, the company, and the great courses we have the privilege of playing.

A: Our rotation is a virtual “who’s who” of top private courses including Country Club of Detroit, Red Run, Orchard Lake CC, Point of Woods, Muskegon CC, Detroit Golf Club, Birchwood, Franklin Hills, Port Huron, and many other “must-play” venues in Michigan and beyond.

A: Not a problem. If you wish to play in a particular event and don't have a regular partner, we'll pair you up with someone of similar ability, most often from another club. Meeting new people is one of the great benefits of our organization and many new and lasting friendships have been formed this way over the years.

A: There is no required minimum. You may play in as many or as few as you wish. Each event stands on its own as far as the competition is concerned.

A: Most events feature both morning and afternoon shotguns which enable most members to play the courses (and the times) they request. Should you not get the event or time you requested you are priority-listed at the next event of your choice.

A: At the final event of the year—The Fritz Adams Championships—we hold two individual gross championships; one for single-digit players between 50 & 70 years of age and the other for super senior players over seventy.

A: The one-time initiation fee includes a logo golf shirt, pocket crest for your blazer (when the host club dress code requires), annual membership roster, and a small administrative fee. The Association operates as a non-profit so most of the fee is returned in value to our members.

A: The cost varies depending on what each host club charges us. The majority of our cost is passed directly through to our members with just a small fee to cover prizes, tournament set-up, pairings, scorecard preparation, and other administrative duties. A typical event runs between $175 and $275 per player which includes golf, range, attended locker room, ranger, prizes (1st, 2nd & 3rd in each flight), cart fee, and all food and beverages (except alcohol). Drinks are always by subscription.

A: If you were previously a Michigan Senior and would like to rejoin there is no initiation fee. All you need to do is submit an updated application and a check for the annual dues ($125).

A member may bring a guest to an event providing there is room in the field and the guest meets the membership criteria of the MSGA. That is, he must belong to an approved club, carry a current GHIN Index and be sponsored by a current member. The same guest can only play in one event and he and his partner are not eligible to compete for prizes.
